The South Tyrol looks forward to your visit!

You will love it… your holiday in the South Tyrol

South Tyrol... the facts

The South Tyrol is Italy’s northernmost province. It borders Switzerland to the west and Austria to the north and east. Around 500,000 people live in this country of mountains and wonderful nature! As its name suggests, the South Tyrol once belonged to Tyrol and so to Austria. However, at the end of the First World War the Allied Forces assigned the area to Italy. Today the South Tyrol is held up as an example of harmony among coexisting ethnic minorities and German, Italian and Ladin are all recognised equally as official languages.

South Tyrol... the magic of variety

The South Tyrol thrives on contrasts and is a veritable symbiosis of alpine and Mediterranean influences, spontaneity and reliability, nature and culture. The South Tyrol stands both for snow-capped mountains and palm-tree-lined promenades, cappuccinos and pizza as well as dumplings and goulash, customs and traditions but also modern trends, listed buildings and modern architecture!
